Regional Training Workshop on the Promotion of National Renewable Energy Policies and Incentive Schemes in the ECOWAS Member States

09/09/2013 - 10:00

ECREEE and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) are jointly organising two training workshops on the Promotion of National Renewable Energy Policies and Incentive Schemes for participants from the 15 ECOWAS Member States.  The Workshops will take place back-to-back from 9-13 and 16-20 September 2013. The training workshops are held within the framework of the implementation of the ECOWAS Renewable Energy Policy, recently adopted by the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government. They will also prepare participating countries in the development of National Renewable Energy Action Plans (NREAPs), which will contribute to the attainment of the targets of the regional policies.

The workshops therefore aim to provide a better understanding of renewable energy sources and favourable conditions for an advanced market development. In particular, they will strive to:

Multi-Thematic Workshop on the Development of the Regional Efficient Lighting Strategy in ECOWAS

02/07/2013 - 01:00

ECREEE in conjunction with UNEP and with support from Club ER will be organizing a Multi-thematic workshop on efficient lighting in the ECOWAS region from the 2 to 3 of July 2013 in Dakar Senegal.

The ECOWAS Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) as the leading organization in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency in West Africa, in October 2012, launched an initiative on energy-efficient lighting, as one of its priority initiatives in the implementation of the ECOWAS policy on Energy Efficiency adopted in Accra, Ghana in October 2012.

ECREEE Regional Training of Trainers Workshop: HOMER software for Renewable Energy project design

24/06/2013 - 01:00

LAST UPDATE - June, 28th

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) organized a four-day Training of Trainers on HOMER as a tool for renewable energy (RE) project design from June 24–27, 2013, in Praia, Cape Verde. In the training attended 35 participants coming from 14 ECOWAS countries plus Mauritania and representing different type of institutions, utilities, ministries and other energy related public bodies and universities.

The training used theoretical concepts, simulations, practical exercises and field visits to existing RE projects in Cape Verde to introduce and equip potential trainers on the use of HOMER and to enable them conduct basic follow-up national trainings in the ECOWAS Member States.
